Suspect behind Kisumu boda boda riders murder arrested

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a murder suspect believe to have killed a 51-year-old Boda Boda rider in a violent robbery.

The March 28 incident happened in Kisumu’s Kasagam area and was reported to the Gita police post.

Cops had received a report of a body that had been dumped at a cassava plantation within the area; witnesses said the body had deep cuts on the head.

Upon investigations, police officers discovered that the deceased- Tom Mboya- was a motorbike rider whose bike of registration KMFJ 763Z was missing.

DCI detectives who took over the matter on Monday launched a man-hunt for the perpetrators who were believed to have escaped to the Koyonzo area.

The suspects had also disabled the bikes tracking device near the Namalasire village in Mumias East.

According to a police report, a door-to-door search led to the discovery of the bike at an unfinished building .

A teenager who was found within the premises told the police that the bike had been brought by a man who hid it in a room together with a blood stained metal bar and a sharp knife.

Both items were discovered during the operation.

A joint operation saw the dramatic arrest of the suspect Fredrick Kivaji who was at the time escaping through a matatu.

The matatu was intercepted within the Mumias Township and the suspect placed under lawful custody pending his arraignment.
