Suspect in Kericho rape incident lynched

A suspect in the Kericho rape and murder incident was lynched by irate mob on Thursday.

In a bizarre twist, residents narrated how the man returned to the crime scene and confessed that he was part of the four member gang who attacked the elderly couple.

The suspect was allegedly carrying Chepkwony’s mobile phone which he took during the robbery with violence incident.

Another suspect was arrested in Bureti in connection with the Kericho rape and murder incident.

He has been linked to the attack on Richard Chepkwony, 78, the murder of his wife Ann and rape of their three granddaughters.

The gangsters also attacked the couple’s house help Sheila Cherotich leaving her unconscious.

Kericho County Police commander James Mugera said the suspect was arrested at his hide out in Litein town.

The suspect was arrested after being positively identified by the three rape victims.

The county police commander expressed confidence that it was only a matter of time before they catch up with the rest.
