Suspect surrenders, admits to killing wife in cold blood
A middle-aged man accused of killing his wife surrendered to Kibwezi Police Station in Makueni County on Sunday.
Confirming the incident, Kibwezi OCPD Leonard Kimaiyo said the suspect, Mwanzia Musembi from Kiboko area in Makindu sub County, surrendered at the station on Saturday at around 7pm and admitted to killing his wife at dawn on Saturday.
According to Kimaiyo, the suspect’s clothes were soaked in blood when he showed up at the station. He was locked up at the station and later handed over to Makindu Police Station to await arraignment in court.
“The suspect surrendered yesterday at about 7pm and admitted to killing his wife at Kiboko trading centre in Makindu sub County.
“We detained him and handed him to Makindu Police Station on Sunday morning so that legal action can be taken against him,” said Kimaiyo.
It is alleged that the suspect stabbed his wife who was identified only as Mueni in the stomach following a domestic row.
She was rushed to Makindu Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival due to excessive bleeding.
The suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday.
