Suspected Al Shabaab militants raid police station, steal firearms

More than 100 suspected Al Shabaab militants raided Diff Police station in Wajir early Saturday morning, stealing firearms and bullets.

It is reported that the suspected militants left one police officer injured.

The criminals are believed to have escaped with serious injuries, following a fierce exchange of fire with police officers.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet confirmed the 1 am incident, saying police officers managed to fight the suspected militants..

They are said to have also raided local shops in Wajir, before they escaped.

No fatalities have been reported.
