Suspected cattle rustler arrested, three cows recovered

A suspected cattle rustler was on Tuesday arrested and three cows recovered at the border of Migori and Trans Mara after being cornered by locals.

The suspect, identified as Kevin Odhiambo was reported to have stolen the cows on Monday from Ogwedhi area, Suna East sub-county.

According to Upper Suna location Chief, Wilson Ogwada, the suspect admitted to having personally stolen the cows and is currently detained at Migori police station.

Mr. Ogwada, however, adds that they are still in pursuit of other suspects said to have been together with Odhiambo.

He has appealed to the locals to work closely with the security agencies to weed out suspected cattle rustlers within the region.

Residents of Suna East living along the boarder want the government to improve security patrol in the region to deal with the rampant cases of cattle rustling.

They claimed that many residents have been killed, injured and cows stolen by armed cattle rustlers.
