Suspected chicken thief beaten by mob, left for dead in Kisii

A suspected chicken thief on Sunday narrowly escaped death after he was accosted by irate villagers and beaten in Nyosia area, Kisii County.

Confirming the incident, area Chief Alexander Nyakenyua said the suspect allegedly stole four chickens from a homestead in Ibaria village at around 5:30am.

According to the administrator, the unidentified man was intercepted by a security guard headed home from work at the time.

The guard reportedly raised alarm, thereby waking up area residents who descended on the suspect with kicks and blows and left him for dead.

The suspect is currently recuperating at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where he was later admitted by police officers responding on scene.
