Suspected gangster lynched after failed robbery

A suspected gangster was on Saturday lynched by irate members of the public at Sukunanga Estate in the outskirts of Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County while his two accomplices escaped on foot.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects had stolen an unknown amount of money from a businessman of Asian origin before his security guard raised the alarm, prompting members of the public to intervene.

The deceased was confronted by boda boda operators who were outside the compound after his accomplices escaped. He was then pelted with stones after he declined to disclose the identities of his accomplices.

An AK-47 rifle with two rounds of ammunition was recovered from the deceased.

Police from the neighboring Kiambaa Police Station transferred the body of the deceased to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary in Eldoret Town as they launched a manhunt for the escaped suspects.
