Suspected mugger shot dead in Nairobi CBD

A suspected mugger was Sunday morning, January 28, shot dead by police along Kimathi Street.

The suspect, who was in a group of three, was robbing members of the public before they were accosted by police who were on patrol.

Confirming the 4am incident, Central OCPD Robinson Thuku said the muggers who were on a motorcycle fired at the police who in retaliation fatally injured one suspect.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the other suspects who fled the scene, with Thuku intimating that they have increased their patrols to ensure all Kenyans are secure.

A homemade gun was recovered from the scene.

Meanwhile, two suspected gangsters were shot dead after attacking pedestrians and seriously injuring one of them near Jonathan Ngeno estate in Langata.

Langata OCPD Elijah Mwangi said police recovered a blood stained panga, sword and bhang from the two suspects.
