Suspected robber armed with toy gun arrested in Kisii

Police in Kisii County on Sunday evening chased down and arrested a suspected robber who had been terrorising residents of Borangi village, only to find him with a toy gun.

Kisii County Police Commander Bernard Muli said an alarm after spotting the suspect, alerting the police.

On arriving at the scene, the officers pursued the suspect and cornered him, forcing him to surrender.

It was then that they discovered the weapon he was using to scare his victims was a piece of wood shaped into a pistol.

The police boss said they are treating the man as a criminal.

“It is a wooden thing but we will not take any chance because it is enough to convince a person that it is a fire arm,” said Mr. Muli.

“We are treating him as a criminal even if it was a toy because it is capable of scaring people and it can be used to rob.”

The suspect was locked up at Nyamache Police Station pending arraignment.
