Brothers linked to Erick Oloo murder case detained for 8 more days

Two brothers linked to the murder of Star journalist Eric Oloo have been detained for 8 more days.

Siaya High Court Judge Lady Justice Roseline Aburili directed that Victor Ogola Luta and Franklin Joel Luta be detained pending mental examination.

They are to remain in police custody until December 18.

The Prosecutor, David Okach, had informed the court that the suspects who have not yet taken plea to their charges, were yet to undergo the tests.

Lady Justice Roseline Aburili ordered that the test be conducted at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu.

She further directed that after the mental examination on December 17, the suspects be returned to court the next day for plea taking.

Lady Justice Aburili also directed that the suspects be provided with a lawyer once the case begins.

The duo had informed the court that they cannot afford to hire a lawyer on their own.

Five people including Ugunja deputy OCS Sabina Kerubo, in whose house the body of the journalist was found, are also in police custody.

On December 2, Kerubo was arraigned before Siaya Principal Magistrate James Ong’odo.

The Magistrate ordered that she also be detained at the Siaya Police Station pending completion of investigations.

She is expected to be brought back to court on December 16.
