Suspects in Nairobi businessman assault case arraigned in court

Three more suspects linked to the assault of former Nairobi Central Business District Association (NCBDA) chairman Timothy Muriuki were Wednesday arraigned in court and charged with robbery with violence.

Appearing before before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, the accused; Dishon Peter Mulinge, Ronald Onyango Otieno and Micheal Wathigo were charged with injuring and robbing Mr. Muriuki Ksh.100,000 at a Nairobi Hotel.

The three, who surrendered to the police on Tuesday, denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Ksh.200,000 each.

The matter will be mentioned on May 23, 2018.

The suspects turned themselves up at Central Police Station in Nairobi on Tuesday afternoon accompanied by a lawyer.

On Monday, the High Court declined anticipatory bail to stop the arrest of the five men caught on camera assaulting Muriuki during a press conference at a Nairobi hotel on April 30, 2018.
