Suspects linked to girls murder in Kenyenya detained

Four suspects linked to murder in Kenyenya, Kisii County were Friday arraigned but not charged.

David Omwenga, Timothy Aroni, Gilbert Nyabuto and Evans Nyabuto were arrested following public outrage over the cold murder of 9-year-old Diana Kerubo and 4-year-old Stephanie Kerubo Atuti.

The crime is said to have taken place at Omobondo Village, Kenyenya Sub-County on Wednesday, July 10.

The Chief Prosecutor assigned to the case told Ogembo Law Courts that the police had recovered some vital evidence from the suspects.

This includes Ksh. 23,020 alleged to have been stolen from the guardian of the deceased.

Kisii Resident Magistrate Gloria Barasa granted the prosecution permission to detain the suspects for 14 more days in order to complete investigations.

The police further told the court that they had not recorded statements and needed adequate time to complete the investigations before charging the suspects.
