Suspects who killed Stephen Gacheche, stole Ksh.2M arrested in Bungoma

Detectives from the DCI have arrested five suspects believed to be behind a series of violent robberies within Bungoma County.

They are believed to be behind the murder of Stephen Gacheche from whom they stole Ksh.2M on June 8 this year.

Detectives working on intelligence reports pounced on a 27-year-old John Wanyonyi on Friday evening at his Mooka Estate home in Kanduyi, Bungoma.

They recovered several eectronics believed to have been stolen from various places within the county.

Also recovered was a rain coat, millitary boots, settled land sale agreement and cash-sale receipt totalling to Ksh. 62,000.

Upon interrogation, the suspect led officers to a flat near the Shell petrol station on the Kanduyi- Bungoma road where four more suspects namely: 48-yr-old John One Are , 35-yr-old Milton Onyango (both Ugandans), Linet Adhiambo (26yrs) and 33-yr-old Brian Ochieng were arrested.

From the suspects’ house more electronics including two TV sets, five mobile phones, two refrigerators, a solar panel; assorted new clothes, beddings and mattresses.

The items are believed to have been purchased between 9th and 13th June 2020 as per supermarket receipts.

Detectives also recovered 3 metal bar cutters, riveting gun and handcuffs.

All the suspects have been put under lawful custody.
