Suspended UoN student Mike Jacobs released on free bond

The Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has recalled a file on arson charges against expelled University of Nairobi student Mike Jacobs.

Jacobs, who lost to Babu Owino in the race for SONU chairman, was expected in court today for leading a team that set ablaze SONU offices last month.

Jacobs will, however, now await the DPP’s perusal of his charges before he can be prosecuted.

Jacobs is among dozens of students expelled from the University of Nairobi for indiscipline and destruction of property.

The offences were also presented as having been committed during students’ unrest early last month triggered by disputed SONU election results.

Jacobs, who spent the night at the Central Police station, was released on a free bond.
