Suspended Youth Fund boss, Bruce Odhiambo, in court

Suspended Youth Fund chair, Bruce Odhiambo, and Chief Executive Officer, Catherine Namuye, have been arraigned before the Nairobi Anti-Corruption Court and charged with corruption related charges.

The two are alleged that between the 17th of November 2014 and the 4^th of May 2015 within Nairobi County conspired to commit and economic crime, namely disposal of public property, through unlawful payment of over 180 million shillings from the Youth Fund to Quorandum Limited for services not rendered.

The two, who appeared before Magistrate Felix Kombo, are also facing abuse of office and preparing a false document among other charges.

It is alleged that they made a false document, namely a contract between Quorandum Ltd and the Youth Fund, for contract of sum 65,985,000 shillings for alleged provision of consultancy services on ICT Strategy Design by Quorandum Ltd to the Youth Fund purporting it to be a genuine document.

Also charged are three directors of Quorandum Limited; Muturi Nyamai, Doreen Waithera Nganga and their company.

It is alleged that through their company, the two unlawfully received 115,710,000 shillings from the Youth Fund for services not rendered.

The two directors also face another count of unlawful acquisition of public property.

However, the plea was deferred to Friday since the two directors of the said company were not in court.

The court released them on a personal bond of 500,000 shillings each.

They are, however, expected to appear before court Friday morning to answer to the charges.
