A 16-year-old male student was swept away by a surging flood while swimming in Bomet County's flooded Sise River on Sunday.
The incident occurred while the student, along with two others, was swimming, only to be swept away by powerful currents and submerged.
His companions raised an alarm, prompting the public to join the search, but they were unable to find the body.
The student persuaded his friends to join him on the outing, and after they agreed, they went swimming.
Both the county disaster team and volunteers are now involved in the search efforts, though the ongoing rain is complicating the operation, according to disaster management officers led by Stanley Mutai.
