Taita Taveta chiefs get motorbikes to ease movement

About 75 chiefs and their assistants from Taita Taveta County on Tuesday received motorbikes from the national government in an effort to ease mobility in their work.

Speaking while issuing the motorbikes on behalf of the national government, Taita Taveta County Commissioner Josephine Onunga told the chiefs to use the motorbikes to improve service delivery in their locations.

“The national government is issuing you with these motorbikes so that you can improve your service delivery to residents in your area of jurisdiction,” she said.

The commissioner further said that more motorbikes will be issued this year, adding that stern action will be taken against chiefs and their assistants who will be found colluding with criminals in their locations.

At the same time, Ms Onunga urged chiefs who are not conversant with traffic rules to attend driving classes so that they can use their motorbikes efficiently.
