Taita Taveta Leaders Oppose Family Planning

A section of leaders from the country are now up in arms against the programme saying it should not be discarded

The issue has now prompted local leaders to hold crisis meetings with parents in a bid to convince them to discard the programme.

The leaders are worried that family planning was reducing population in the area especially in schools.

The leaders are now asking parents to bear more children and take them to schools.

They were agitated by a recent survey that showed the county was the leading countrywide in the number of pupils dropping out of schools leaving classrooms empty

The report by the National Taxpayers Association showed that Taita Taveta county was leading in the number of boys who are dropping out of primary schools.

The report which was released week showed that Ndome Primary school in the area was listed by Taxpayers association as leading in the decline of pupils in the county.

The leaders have now offered cash to women in the area to stop family planning so that they can continue adding the number of children in their families to avoid a decline of pupils in schools

Youths have also been asked to marry early to continue bearing children

The leaders pleaded with parents to apply for loans from the county to enable them support their families.
