Take advantage of TICAD conference, businesswomen told

Businesswomen from Nyanza have been advised to take advantage of international trade fair summits hosted here in Kenya to get links for promoting their commodities in the global markets.

Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation Kisumu County chairperson Mrs Atieno Otieno advised women to take advantage of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) summit that is scheduled to take place in Nairobi next week to develop business links with Japan.

She noted that such forums usually provide a lot of opportunities to exhibit local products to the international scene.

Mrs Otieno revealed that during the conference which kicks off at the Kenya International Convention Center (KICC) on Monday, the Export Promotion Center will assist women on ways to produce and export their commodities.

The chairperson regretted that only a few women entrepreneurs were selected to exhibit their products, and therefore encouraged more women to come out whenever such opportunities arise.

She was speaking in Bondo Constituency where she also urged women to come out in large numbers and vie for elective positions in 2017 General Election.

Atieno Otieno who has declared interest in Kisumu County gubernatorial seat, encouraged women to come out and contest not only for the Women Representative post but all elective positions.
