Video: Tana River residents in distress
Nearly 70 percent of Tana River County is completely submerged after the main river burst its banks.
Reports indicate that the ongoing floods have sunk at least 32 villages and destroyed 30,000 homesteads.
Transport and communication have been completely cut off in most villages.
According to the county administration, 64,000 people who have been displaced will require close to six months of relief food supply.

Area Governor Godana Dhadho is urging the National Government for emergency intervention saying the county is facing a humanitarian crisis.
The Meteorological Department predicts that more rains are expected to continue in Tana River and it’s environs.
