TangaTanga politicians fire back after Jubilee threatened to kick out ‘arrogant’ DP Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto’s allies have rubbished threats by Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju that the DP will be bundled out of the party.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen took to Twitter- quoting article 33 of the Kenyan law- saying DP Ruto cannot be removed unless there is a referendum or a General Election.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika was none the kinder, tearing into the Jubilee Secretary-General and suggesting that he may have suffered a concussion during the accident that left him hospitalized for weeks.

Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, another Ruto-ally asked the DP to relax, saying that his troops will take the fight to Jubilee’s doorstep.\

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria did not mince his words when he accompanied DP Ruto to MP Ngunjiri’s home in Nakuru.

Kuria said Tuju was spoiling for a fight, promising that the Ruto camp would fight back for as long as it takes.

“Tunaambiwa tumepindua serikali yetu na sisi ni wa Jubilee…Tuju is digging for a fight…it won’t be easy tutapigana mpaka ng’ombe irudi…matharau imezidi,” he said.

The latest comes just a day after Tuju in a televised statement threatened action after DP Ruto and a smattering  of Tanga Tanga politicians stormed the Jubilee headquarters and held a meeting.

This came as President Uhuru Kenyatta embarked on a three-day official trip to France.

On Friday,  the Jubilee Party National Management Committee (NMC)  recommended the removal of Deputy President William Ruto as the deputy party leader and barred him from using the party headquarters to advance his political ambitions.

Addressing the media on Friday afternoon, Tuju described the deputy president’s action as an “attempted power grab” adding that Ruto has in the recent past exhibited “arrogance, insolence and disrespect of President Uhuru Kenyatta who is also the Jubilee Party Leader.”

Tuju said Ruto’s move to invite the MPs, some of whom he described as “foul mouthed”, to the Jubilee headquarters almost created an ugly confrontation with MPs allied to the President.

“Yesterday, the DP turned up at the Party Headquarters with more than 30 MPs many of them known avowed abusers of the President. These are the same fowl mouthed MPs that are on record attacking government programs like the Huduma number.

“It is disturbing that the Deputy President invites this same retinue to the Party Headquarters to give them a platform to increase polarisation in the Party. Indeed, that move of inviting MPs allied to him almost created an ugly confrontation with close to 40 MPs not allied to him who also wanted to storm the headquarters,” said Tuju.

The Secretary-General further faulted Ruto for expressing his dissenting view on the party’s decision not to field a candidate in the forthcoming Msambweni by-election and further unveiling and declaring his support for an independent candidate in the mini-polls.
