Tanzanian man to serve 15 years in jail for defiling girl in Homa Bay

A Tanzanian national has been jailed for 15 years after being found guilty of defiling a 17-year-old girl at Miranga Village in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County.

24-year-old Zuberi Bado Isa, who appeared before Ndhiwa Court Principal Magistrate Mary Ochieng’ was charged with defilement contrary to Sexual Offences Act of 2006. He is alleged to have committed the offence on August 14, 2018.

In the second count, he was charged with being in Kenya unlawfully contrary to the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act of 2011.

Six witnesses who included North Kabura Assistant Chief Maurice Odida, Police Constable Ann Sarikoki and village elder Narkiso Otieno gave testimonies that convinced the court that Isa defiled the girl.

The court ordered that Isa be deported to his country after completing his 15-year jail term.

Isa was given 14 days to appeal before being taken to Homa Bay Prison.
