Tassia building tragedy: Rescue operations concluded as 10 confirmed dead

Rescue operations at the collapsed Tassia building in Embakasi Constituency were came to an end on Monday after the emergency team got to the ground floor of the building.

At least 6 people are still admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital after they were rescued from the rubble of the six-storey residential building that collapsed on Friday.

The recovery operation that lasted four days saw 36 people rescued, with 10 people being confirmed dead.

The affected families are receiving shelter at the Tassia catholic church, as the government seeks to find ways to help resettle them.

The building which housed at least 40 families, is said to have violated construction regulations.

The national building inspectorate is set to gather samples at the site, before preparing an audit report.
