Teacher Jailed For Defiling Students

Sammy Toivo Ameso allegedly had carnal knowledge of 14 and 16 year old minors on 27/6/2012 and 28/6/2012 respectively at Ng’iya Gorls Boarding School in Siaya sub-County, where he was a teacher.

The former teacher also faced a second account of committing indecent acts by fondling the private parts of the respective minors on the diverse dates of the incidents.

Ameso had reportedly befriended the two students for a while before defiling them in the staffroom on the fateful dates.

The suspect pleaded guilty of the charges before Siaya Resident Magistrate Jared Sani, but asked for leniency on grounds that he was his family’s sole bread winner.

The Magistrate slapped him with a 20 years imprisonment sentence for the first count and 15 years imprisonment for the second count, stating that the offense was serious and deserved a stiff penalty to set an example to others.

The two sentences will run concurrently.

Ameso however has 14 days to appeal.
