Teachers from hell: Boy,6, in hospital after brutal beating

A six-year-old has been hospitalised in Laikipia following a brutal beating allegedly by three teachers at the Kamkunji Primary School.

The child was admitted at the Nyahururu Referral Hospital almost at the same time as another boy who was also nearly beaten to death by his father, a Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) officer.

According to the first child’s mother, Mary Wangechi, the school’s head teacher called her informing her that son had a problem.

Upon arrival, her son’s classmates informed her that three teachers found him playing in class and began to beat him up.

“Wakaanza kumkanyagilia chini na viatu kisha wakatoa sehemu zake za siri (They stepped on him with their shoes and then exposed his private parts)…,” they told the mother.

Dr. Wambui Ngatia revealed that besides severe trauma, the boy suffered a six-centimeter cut on his left scrotum.

“He is unable to explain what happened but we have talked to the parents and we will take him to theatre to stitch the tear on the scrotum,” she said.

The boy is now in stable condition. The matter was reported at Ngano Police Station but the suspects are yet to be apprehended.

Police and education officials from Ol Joroko Sub- County have reportedly launched investigations into the matter.

Efforts to reach the school head teacher however bore no fruits.

Meanwhile, the second boy who is seven years old, sustained head injuries and a fracture on his right arm.

The Class Two pupil at Oasis Primary School recalled the harrowing incident where his father pounced on him while he was asleep.

“Baba akakuja kaanza kunichapa na bladder kwa kichwa, mgongo na miguu kutoka hapo majirani wakakuja wakanipeleka hopsitalini (My father came home and began to beat me with a bladder on my head, back and legs. Neighbours who heard me screaming came and saved me and took me to hospital),”  he said.

According to eyewitnesses, the boy’s mother was unable to stop her husband from battering the boy, prompting the neighbors to intervene.

The man was arrested but is reportedly out on bond as investigations into the matter continue.
