Teachers who beat student sending him to surgery arrested

Two teachers have been arrested after they assaulted a student sending him to the emergency room.

The student, Joseph Okore, a Form Three student at Sagero Secondary School in Suna West is recuperating after the beating administered by the two in school causing massive damage to his pancreas.

Okore was critically injured and forced to undergo surgery after it was established he had internal bleeding as a result of the injury to his internal organ.

Narrating the ordeal, Okore accused the teachers; Amos Owino and Lazarus Juma saying he was summoned to the staff room over long hair. He says the two then descended on him with slaps and kicks to his lower abdomen.

He then developed serious abnormal pain immediately after the beating and was forced to sneak out of school to seek medical attention.

According to the mother, Lilian Akinyi, her son was forced to undergo surgery to save his life. She is appealing for justice for her son saying the teachers involved should be punished.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi, Migori OCPD Gladys Rutere said the two teachers have been arrested and will be arraigned in court to answer to charges.

Sagero school principal Mr. Zachary Aludo termed the incident as unfortunate saying the two, who had been employed by the school board of management have since been fired.
