Teenage Boy Cuts His Own Hand To “Cure” Internet Addiction

The 19 year old boy is reported to have used a kitchen knife to chop off his left hand at their home in Jiangsu province, China.

According to a local television Jiangu TV, the teenager was sitting on a public bench when he performed the act.

His mother had found a note in his room that said, "Mum, I have gone to hospital for a while, “Don't worry. I will definitely come back this evening."

After cutting his hand, the boy is said to have left for the hospital leaving his hand on the ground.

Cases of internet addiction have been reported over the years especially among the youth.

In 2011, Chris Staniforth a 20yr old internet addict from Sheffield, England died after allegedly playing 12 straight hours of video games.

Staniforth died of deep vein thrombosis, a disease usually affecting those who spend excessive amounts of time in flight– or sitting with little to no movement as was the case with this young man.

Thrombosis is also caused by lack of exercise and movement.
