Ten Killed in Narok Flash Floods

The heavy rains that pounded the area on Tuesday evening are said to have started in the afternoon hours.

Reports say that ten bodies have so far been recovered from the Narok river that passes through Narok town.

The Narok county government is expected to release officials figures after the search operations are concluded.

Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai says the county has formed four rescue teams that are involved in retrieving vehicles from the river and searching for missing bodies.

Narok County Commissioner Arthur Osiya has said rescue operations are still ongoing.

Osiya called on those living in the area and those using the Narok road to be cautious.

The rescue team includes the Kenya Red Cross, National Youth Service, County Government and National Government officers.

The bodies recovered have been taken to Narok district hospital mortuary.
