Tension High as Man is Killed in Njoro

Kotoine ole Kishe a father of five died after he was shot with a poisoned arrow in one of his leg.

According to an eye witness, the deceased was allegedly shot by suspected guards from the controversial Muthera farm which is owned by the family of the late minister Mbiyu Koinange.

Trouble started after 6 guards reportedly went to Ole Kishe’s house at 2PM  accompanied by three administration police officers who were recently deployed to provide security at Muthera farm.

The three are said to have dosed the deceased’s house with petrol, set it ablaze and later shot him before fleeing.

News of the attack spread fast sparking tension among residents in the area.

Rowdy youths armed with clubs and swords attacked Maunarok Deputy OCS Joseph Muchende accusing him of taking sides in the matter.

Njoro Sub-County Administration Commander Aden Abdullahi led a team of security officers, senior elders and women managed to contain the situation.

Residents have called on the government to beef up security in the area adding that the long standing land dispute between the Maasai community could easily result into chaos if not addressed properly.

Senior police officers at the scene declined to speak  and instead referred any questions to the Inspector General of Police.

The deceased was an employee of Joseph Ole Mpoe a brother to the late Maasai land activist Moses ole Mpoe who was also killed near Nakuru on December 3, 2010.

His body has been taken to the Nakuru County Government mortuary with police officers having been deployed to the area.

The murder case is set for ruling on 15th December this year.
