Terror scare as 14 suspicious youth are apprehended

Tension was high among residents of Mukuyu town in Murang’a County after police apprehended 14 youths who were sharing two single rooms at a bar and rest last night.

Led by the Muranga’a OCPD Johnston Limo and County Commissioner Kula Hache the police stormed the premises and arrested the suspects after being tipped off by some residents.

Speaking shortly after apprehending the youngsters, Hache said that out of the 14 teenagers who were caught chatting in the said room, only 4 of them had identification cards and the rest were minors.

In their defense, the teenagers claimed to be part of Optimus Arts Theatre which has been visiting various schools in Murang’a County stage literature play books.

The youngsters also pointed that they have already visited Iyego Secondary, Mugoiri Girls, Weithaga boys and other schools..

Among the 14 were eight male teenagers who were sharing one room and their 6 female counterparts who were sharing another room.

The youths are held in Murang’a Police Station where they spent the night waiting for their parents to pick them up.
