Terror suspect arraigned in court

A terror suspect, Nuseiba Mohammed Haji Osman alias Umm Fidda alias Ummu Fidaa alias Ummulxarb has been remanded for ten days to allow police complete investigations against her.

Nuseiba was arrested Wednesday at the Milimani Law Courts while attending a court session.

The prosecution told the court that her arrest was triggered by the fact that she was found in possession of one micro SD card, 2gb a SD adapter and one note book from the First Community Bank.

The court further heard that from the intelligence reports received by the Anti-Terror Police Unit shows that Nuseiba has been communicating and passing information related to terrorism activities.

It is alleged that the accused has been passing information through the internet to terrorists belonging to the Islamic State group.

“Pursuant to brief investigations so far carried out, Nuseiba has other associates who are still at large and is yet to reveal other suspects and her release will jeopardize their arrest and the ongoing investigations,” the prosecution argued.

In a sworn affidavit, police officer Frankline Okisai said that the investigations require detailed translation on 133 audio files from Somali and Arabic to English.

The court allowed the application by the state and directed that Nuseiba be remanded for 10 days at Kilimani Police Station.

In July, Nuseiba was accused of being an accomplice in a foiled plan by Islamic State-linked extremist medics to launch an anthrax attack in the country. She is charged alongside her husband Mohammed Abdi Ali.

The couple is accused of engaging in active radicalization and recruitment of university students and other Kenyan youth into terror networks. They have denied the charges.
