Tetts son to hang after losing appeal in robbery with violence case

The High Court has dismissed an appeal filed by former nominated Member of Parliament Betty Tett’s foster son David William Tett challenging his conviction to death after being found guilty of murder.

Judges James Wakiaga and Grace Ngenye threw out the appeal filed by David challenging the decision by a lower court after being found guilty to three counts, including robbery with violence.

In their ruling, the two Judges said prosecution had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt denying claims that there was bad blood between Tett and his foster parents as he had claimed.

The court had linked David William to two thugs who were shot dead and the court has ruled his conduct at the scene and thereafter revealed his taking part in committing the offence he was charged with.

In 2013, Milimani Court Magistrate Kiarie Waweru found David guilty of robbing his foster father, William Mulready Tett at gunpoint at lunchtime on September 6th, 2011.

The facts presented in court indicate that David and two accomplices attacked his parents’ home in Karen, Nairobi, and robbed Mr Tett of Ksh 1,000 and a wallet containing a KCB ATM card, a Nakumatt smart card, medical cards and two mobile phones, all valued at Ksh 157,000.

David’s accomplices were shot dead by police during the 1AM robbery.
