THE BATTLE OF NUMBERS: #10MillionStrong vs #45MillionStrong

THE BATTLE OF NUMBERS: #10MillionStrong vs #45MillionStrong

President Uhuru Kenyatta has accused the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) for apparently dividing Kenyans with its #10MillionStrong slogan saying that the Jubilee Party belong to all Kenyans and hence their slogan #45MillionStrong.

Speaking during his tour of Isiolo, President Kenyatta said he is a leader of all Kenyans, 45 million-strong, and he will continue investing in projects that leave no part of the country behind.

The Opposition coalition, under the leadership of Raila Odinga, has been running a campaign of numbers saying that it has a solid basket of ten million votes, hence the #10MillionStrong slogan.

The Opposition says that the Tyranny of Numbers President Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, enjoyed in the 2013 General Election no longer holds any grounds and that it (Opposition) will unseat the duo from the country’s top office.

President Kenyatta, however, says that his campaign is centred on service delivery to all Kenyans regardless of their political, tribal or ethnic affiliation and hence the #45MillionStrong slogan.

“The projects we are implementing – ranging from infrastructure, provision of electricity and modern medical equipment to free maternity and paying exams fees for candidates in primary and secondary schools – are all aimed at ensuring that there is equity and no part of the country lags behind in development,” President Kenyatta said Saturday.

Both Jubilee and NASA are hoping to crack the code on August 8, 2017 when Kenyans go to the ballot to elect new leaders.

The President also castigated the opposition for issuing threats to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, saying Kenya is a country that cannot be intimidated.

He said it is unfortunate the opposition continues to intimidate Kenyans by issuing unnecessary threats as concerns the electoral process.
