The Judiciary Report

Despite the turf wars that seemingly pitted the judiciary against parliament and the executive, the judiciary today said it made significant steps in the administration of justice in the last financial year. A report released on Friday by Chief Justice Willy Mutunga indicates that nearly 250 million shillings was saved in decongesting prisons through dispensing with close to 2000 appeal cases filed by inmates through the launch of Judiciary Service Week. However when releasing the report dubbed the 2nd state of the Judiciary and Administration of Justice the Chief Justice stated that there are nearly 700,000 cases still pending in courts across the country.
