The Mijikenda Sumanga Dance

The Mijikenda culture is rich in tradition and to protect this, members of the community hold the Malindi Cultural Festival which has been going on at the seaside coastal town for years now. One of the attractions at the fifth Malindi cultural festival is the Sumanga dance that has for twenty years entertained people at such shows. The dance that is famous for its well choreographed moves and special rituals that are performed before it, has been successfully passed on from one generation to another.
