‘The president that never was’ – Kalonzo mourns Matiba

Wiper Democratic Movement Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has mourned the late Kenneth Matiba as the president of Kenya that never was.

Speaking when he visited Matiba family at their home in Limuru, the NASA Co-Principal said the multi-party democracy crusader would forever remain in the hearts of Kenyans who overwhelmingly voted for him during his stab at the top seat.

“A lot of things will be said about Mzee Matiba, but he was really the icon and, in my view, the president of this country who never was,” said Musyoka.

“He remains a president to all of us, in many ways. In the hearts of Kenyans, Mzee Matiba was a president.”

Kalonzo added that Matiba was the epitome of struggle having been in the forefront during the Saba Saba movement, which gave birth to the current democracy and the new 2010 Constitution.

Musyoka was flanked by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Mama Ngina Kenyatta and former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama.
