There is enough relief food, assures CS Tuju as he tours Kisumu

Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju says there is enough relief food to help people who have been displaced by the heavy rains and resulting floods across the country.

Mr Tuju, the Cabinet Secretary without portfolio, says the government is on top of the humanitarian crisis situation across the country and will ensure those in need receive the help they need.

The CS was speaking in Kisumu when he visited areas that have been heavily affected by the rains and floods; Kisumu east, Nyando, Nyakach and Muhoroni. Tuju says affected families should ensure they move to evacuation centres to avoid loss of lives.

“I joined leaders in distributing food aid to the affected as part of the intervention measures we have instituted,” he said.

He says relevant government agencies are on the look out to ensure the situation does not escalate into a humanitarian crisis.

“I would like to congratulate government agencies on their quick response and intervention to the residents of the county who have been affected by the floods and its effects.”

He also paid a courtesy visit to Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o where they discussed ways in which the county and national governments can work together.
