Thika: Man in court for assaulting police officer

A middle-aged man was on Monday arraigned before a Thika court for allegedly attacking a female officer.

Patrick Mwangi Gichongu was charged that on August 10, 2018 at Kihunguro area, Kiambu County, he unlawfully assaulted a police officer, Teresia Wangeci, occasioning her actual bodily harm while she was discharging her duties.

Mwangi, who was before Chief Magistrate Teresa Murigi denied the charge of assaulting a police officer.

The accused was remanded in custody since he was unable to raise a cash bail of Ksh.20,000.

The case will be mentioned on August 16.
