Thika: Parents arrested for sexually assaulting, torturing children

Police in Thika have arrested a man, his wife and rescued their three children after sexual and physical assault claims.

Police reports indicate that the man has allegedly been repeatedly sexually and physically defiling the children; his biological daughter and two step children.

The couple, who have been married for six years were arrested on Tuesday evening following a complaint lodged by the Thika Children’s Officer Mrs. Lina Mwangi.

They are being detained at Thika police station. The 38-year-old woman is said to be pregnant.

The man, who police describe as a drunk, burned the children’s books and recently beat one of the minors before defiling her. He is also accused of scalding two of the girls with hot tea and water seriously injuring them.

The girls’ teachers were concerned about the treatment of the three sisters with the headteacher saying the children have been reporting to school while dirty while two of them have serious injuries on their faces.

The headteacher said he raised the issue with the neighbours who confirmed their fears and it is then that the police were informed and raided the home.

The traumatised children said their father has been threatening to kill them if they told anyone about the heinous acts.

Thika West OCPD Willy Simba said that the minors were taken to the Thika Level V hospital for examination. They have also been moved to a local rescue centre.

The police boss said the couple will be arraigned for defilement and incest charges.
