Kenya records 389 new COVID-19 cases, 5 more deaths
Kenya has confirmed 389 new COVID-19 cases marking a new high in the number of infections recorded since the outbreak of the disease in the country.
In a statement to newsrooms on Saturday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the new cases, which now bring the total number of infections in the country to 7,577, were confirmed after testing of 4,829 samples in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, five more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus disease raising the number of fatalities recorded in the country to 159 while 88 have been discharged pushing the number of recoveries to 2,236.
In the statement, CS Kagwe raised an alarm warning that at the current rate of infection the disease could overrun the country’s healthcare facilities.
“From the statistics, it is indicative that we have lost too many lives already. We cannot afford to lose any more.
