Thousands Displaced after Baringo Attacks

A dozen are now camping at Loitip Primary School in Mukutani division while others are still in hiding.

Human rights activist Amos Ole Mpaka said the families fled to the location three days ago and are yet to receive any help from humanitarian organisations or the government.

He called upon the government to provide them with food.

This comes only three weeks after three people were killed and several others injured in an attack on their homes in the same county.

NO SUPPORT

The affected areas were Mukutani, Mochongoi, Sirata and Kapkechir divisions.

Last Sunday, Baringo County Governor Benjamin Cheboi visited the area and promised to support the victims.

However, the locals said that they are yet to receive support from his government.

Earlier in April, the inspector general of police Joseph Boinett issued a 48-hour warning to Pokot cattle rustlers who had stolen cattle to return them unless they will face the law.

Despite this, rustlers still terrorize people in the area.
