Three arraigned for attempting to con iPhone shop owner

Three people, among them a woman, have been arraigned in court and charged with making a tender for supply and delivery of iPhones purporting it to be a genuine tender from the ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

The three, Betty Wangui Nderitu, Felix Kipyegon Langat and Martin Mwangi Njeri, a prison police officer who doubles up as a driver with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are also facing a charge of conspiracy to defraud.

It is alleged that on 17th June and 20th August 2016 they conspired to defraud Capital Airtime Limited 200 pieces of iPhone 6S plus valued at Sh19, 740,000 by falsely pretending that they had won a tender supported by a purchase order from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade for the supply of the iPhones to the said ministry for purpose of use in the recently completed TCAD conference.

The three accused persons denied those and other charges before Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo.

The case will be heard on 27th September 2016.
