Three arrested as 343 stolen TV sets worth Ksh.15M recovered

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have recovered 373 television sets worth at least Ksh.15 million said to have been stolen from a godown in Athi River on December 1, 2019.

The first batch, 130 flat screen TVs, were recovered on Tuesday at a residential house in Mbiuni area, Machakos County, where two suspects were also arrested.

Forensic intelligence led the detectives to Kitengela where the lorry reportedly used to ferry the Syinex TVs during the robbery had been hidden.

243 more TV sets were on Saturday recovered at a residential house in Buruburu Phase IV, Ukunda Court.

One more suspect, 56-year-old John Maina, was arrested during the operation and is presently in police custody.

Several other electronics, including water dispensers, were also recovered during both raids even as further investigations are still ongoing to uncover more suspects behind the criminal cartel.

The suspects are set to be arraigned in court on January 6, 2020 to answer to charges of robbery with violence.
