Three dead as boda boda rams into Probox

Three people died and one was seriously injured in a road accident on the Sagana-Karatina highway in Kirinyaga County on Sunday evening.

According to Mwea-West OCPD Joseph Matiku, the accident happened as a boda boda rider, ferrying three pillion passengers collided head-on with a Probox.

Matiku said the rider, who was heading to Kiburu town from Sagana, attempted to overtake a car on the busy highway and collided with the Probox vehicle which was en route to Nairobi.

The police boss said the impact killed the three pillion passengers on the spot while the rider was rushed to the Kerugoya Referral Hospital after he sustained serious injuries. The bodies were moved to Murang’a mortuary.

The police boss warned road users to follow traffic rules to avoid deaths and injuries.
