Three Dead in Machakos Floods
Three people have been confirmed dead after they were washed away by flood waters while attempting to cross River Athi at Munyeti area, Machakos County last evening.
Confirming the incident, area chief Jane Kamande urged residents to be watchful when crossing swollen rivers, especially during this rainy season.
Bodies of the deceased have been taken to Machakos Level Five Hospital Mortuary.
This comes after more than 150 families living in Nguluni area were left homeless after their houses were destroyed by a heavy storm Saturday.
LIVES LOST
Last week, four people lost their lives in two separate incidences in Nairobi following heavy downpour that resulted in floods in the city.
The four, who included a mother and her 3-year-old child, were the latest to lose their lives to floods in the city.
Earlier, nine people perished at Mukuru Fuata Nyayo area, South B after a mosque wall collapsed on them.
Heavy rains have been wrecking havoc in the county, including mudslides and sweeping entire vehicles in flash floods in Narok and Marsabit.
