Three dead in Naivasha trucks accident

Three people died on the spot following a grisly road accident involving two trucks near the Marula Farm in Naivasha.

One other person was critically injured and is admitted at the Naivasha Sub-County Referral Hospital.

The midday accident caused a major traffic snarl-up as police and members of the public moved in to help retrieve two of the trapped bodies.

Witnesses said one of the trucks was trying to overtake another car when it collided head-on with an oncoming truck.

Those who died included the two trucks’ drivers and one conductor.

The bodies were taken to Naivasha sub county hospital mortuary.

In September, NTSA reported that about 1,899 lives were lost through road accidents between January and August this year, with 60% of these being pedestrian and boda boda riders deaths.

The report also showed that there is an increase in the number of motorbike users.

This had in turn pushed up the number of road accidents as opposed to last year where there was a reduction of 10 per cent in the number of accidents.

Kenyans have been asked to observe traffic laws as they go about their day to day activities.
