Three dead, one critically injured in tragic road accident
Three people died and one man was seriously injured in a tragic road accident at Misanga village after two lorries collided head-on along the Webuye-Bungoma highway.
Eyewitnesses said that the lorries were headed towards opposite directions and in high speeds before colliding.
Bungoma County Redcross Coordinator Hesbon Wekola said that the injured was rushed to Bungoma Referral Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
The accident came just one day after nine people were killed in a road accident near Mataara Shopping Center in Gatundu North, Kiambu County after the matatu they were travelling in plunged into River Nyakabai.
According to Traffic Commandant Jacinta Kinyua, the nine died on the spot while seven others were rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital for urgent care.
Five survivors of the fatal accident were treated and discharged.
Reports indicate the driver lost control of the vehicle while making a turn at a sharp bend, consequently plunging into River Nyakabai.
The victims are reported to have died as result of drowning.
The victims are reported to be from Murang’a County and were headed back home after attending a dowry payment ceremony that was held in Nyahururu on Saturday.
