Three Ethiopian immigrants arrested in Mombasa

Police in Likoni, Mombasa county have arrested three Ethiopian nationals for being in the country illegally.

According to Likoni OCPD Willy Simba, the three aliens were nabbed at the Likoni Ferry crossing by police on patrol.

Simba said a Kenyan man who was in the company of the illegal immigrants has also been arrested.

The OCPD has warned against engaging in the business of smuggling people into the country, saying culprits arrested will face the law.

About two weeks ago, police in Mombasa arrested a man suspected to be involved in a human trafficking syndicate at the Coast region.

Likoni sub-County OCPD Willy Simba said the suspect, Robert Osando, was arrested at the Likoni Ferry channel after security officials found him ferrying six aliens in a private car headed towards Lunga Lunga area, along the Kenya-Tanzania border.

Osando told Citizen Digital that the six aliens are Ethiopian nationals, adding that his officers are looking for the second person who is believed to be involved in the human trafficking syndicate in Kwale County.

In March 2016, police in Nairobi’s Ruaraka area arrested 114 illegal immigrants of Nigeria and Ethiopian origin.

The aliens were living in different apartments in Ruaraka and were arrested during a police operation that followed a tip-off from members of the public.
