Three fires ravage Tsavo, and Chyulu national parks

A raging fire destroyed thousands of acres of vegetation at the Tsavo West National Park on Tuesday evening, barely weeks after similar incident devastated the park.

In a statement sent by the Kenya Wildlife Services on Thursday morning, three sets of fires were reported at the Tsavo Conservation Area.

The first one was in the Taita ranches adjacent to the Tsavo East National Park which was successfully put out.

KWS rangers and the ranch staff were working on containig the fires as of Thursday morning amid reports that a third fire broke out in Kikunduku part of the Chyulu National park around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Efforts to quell the fires are ongoing.
