Three fishermen drown in Lake Victoria

Three fishermen have drowned in Lake Victoria near Misori beach in Rarieda, Siaya County after their boat capsized Friday, March 31 night.

According to West Uyoma location Beach Management Unit network chairman Alfred Odhiambo, the fishermen lost their lives after the boat they were travelling in encountered strong winds.

Odhiambo says the tragedy struck at around 2:00 am, with only one fisherman managing to swim to safety, with a search already launched for the three bodies which are still missing in Lake Victoria.

Separately, body has been found of a 32-year-old fisherman who committed suicide in his house following a suspected domestic wrangle and he has been found dangling on a rope tied to the roof.
